Elliott studied orchestral conducting privately with one of Bernstein's former protégés, David Gilbert, while in New York as well as choral conducting with Robert Isaacs and Kristina Börger. Elliott has premièred various choral works, concerti and operas in his burgeoning career. Recently, Elliott directed a performance of David Conte's Firebird Motel at SFCM's annual Hot Air Music Festival. In 2017, he served as Music Director for the Opera Theater Unlimited, conducting the première of Hunter by Joseph M Colombo. His work at the podium has been described as "taught" and "inventive."
Elliott is the co-founder of Prodigal Opera Productions and serves as Artistic Director. POP is a not-for-profit Bay-Area production and workshop organisation purposed with refitting and restoring a healthy and robust opera culture as well as producing informative, enriching and affordable musical theatre of all stripes. |
